Sexual Violence Certificate + Response to Stephen Shore
Stephen Shore Essay:
The Stephen Shore essay seams to point our attention towards the relationship between form and content. The author has outlined ideas such as structure and composition. (Though of course, there is more to unpack in those terms as seen in the essay). Another consideration is the classical notion of perfect form and shape. Honestly though, from what I could tell reading this essay what seamed pertinent to me was this; rules are great points of reference, but artist can also coordinate an engaging photograph by just experiencing a space. Furthermore, a structural idea is useful, but unlike painters, photographers cannot as easily create a composition. They rather coordinate elements and find imagery that adheres to an interesting composition. They are the seekers. Sometimes seeking is about play, it is about experience, and it is about enjoyment as well. Which I honestly feel like I attempted to embrace In my Assignment 5 (photo montage). Though, I do recognize doing a photo montage was a different process and methodology to that of Stephen Shores, as a photo montage has more flexibility to that of a painter in terms of composition.
